International Women's Day

In the context of commemorating International Women’s Day, celebrated since 1975 to highlight the struggle for women’s rights and equality globally, it is essential to highlight the prominent role of some women in the technology industry. Despite this sector remaining predominantly male, it is crucial to recognize the significant achievements of those women who have contributed to technological advancement. At Arkkosoft, we are proud to have talented and professional women in various departments of our company, and today we want to highlight the vision and work of some of them.

Lizzi Izaula, an expert in Quality Assurance at Arkkosoft, highlights the commitment and attention to detail involved in working in technology. Although she acknowledges that the industry still has a long way to go in terms of gender equality, Lizzi hopes that her daily work inspires other women to empower themselves and pursue their passions in this field. In addition to her work responsibilities, Lizzi dedicates her free time to activities such as reading, painting, yoga, and watching horror films.

Karolina Valerín works in Cloud Infrastructure and has over 10 years of experience in the technology sector. She reflects on the challenges still faced by women, such as discrimination, lack of representation, and the gender pay gap. Nevertheless, she considers working in technology as a woman to be a beautiful challenge that allows breaking barriers and opening paths for younger generations. In addition to her contribution to our company, Karolina actively participates in a volunteer program with older adults, mostly women, sharing knowledge about integrating technology into their daily lives. Her goal is to contribute to the empowerment of girls and young women, providing them with the necessary support to find a space in technology without gender limitations.

She complements her active life by being part of The Litas, a group of over 150 women who share a passion for riding high-displacement motorcycles, many of them with careers in the technology sector.

Mariela Bonilla, a developer at Arkkosoft, shares how her life perspective has changed significantly since entering the technology field. She appreciates the support received and feels joyful to be a role model for her nieces, challenging stereotypes and demonstrating that women are capable of excelling in software development. Mariela emphasizes the importance of showing future generations the various opportunities in the technology field and advocating for a broader view of women’s day-to-day lives in STEM. In her free time, Mariela enjoys variety, from watching series and movies to studying, exercising, or simply spending time with family and friends.

“We need more female role models who are good in technology, who are entrepreneurs. Today, not many women like that appear in the media, and if girls don't see themselves represented on TV as smart, good at math and science, they have no role models as they grow up.” - Randi Zuckerberg, Chief Marketing Officer of Facebook.
