The project involved developing a visual reporting system using AWS QuickSight for Costa Rican municipalities, enabling them to generate interactive charts and gain insights into key indicators such as security, health, and education. Using Excel as the data source, it was integrated with AWS Glue to facilitate data processing and loading into QuickSight. The solution eliminated the need for traditional databases, optimizing analysis and visualization. A web-based Java system was implemented to embed the dashboards, providing an accessible platform where users can dynamically view and analyze data at both national and district levels. The architecture was enhanced with AWS Lambda and Node.js for data automation, improving real-time processing. Additionally, the system suggested data hierarchies, optimizing data analysis workflows and source data evaluation for accuracy and efficiency. This approach modernized the analysis process, with a particular focus on security, enabling municipalities to make informed decisions to improve community quality of life.

Service Architecture:

The data flow begins with loading Excel files into AWS QuickSight, which automatically generates visualizations and suggests suitable charts. AWS Glue was used to integrate the data with the platform, while AWS Lambda and Node.js automated the processing and loading of data. The system further suggested hierarchies of data to improve organizational workflows. The generated dashboards were embedded into the client’s website via iFrames, enabling dynamic visualization.

Public Security: A strong focus on security indicators, enabling municipalities to measure and compare the effectiveness of their security programs.
